Who We Are

Catholic Charities is the trusted, community social service agency in southwestern Indiana, providing professional services to all regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, orientation or gender. We are dedicated to leading the way in meeting the emergency needs of the poor and vulnerable. As Catholics, we respect the dignity of each unique person so that our clients feel hope and compassion as they create a life that works.

What We Do

Emergency Financial Assistance

Helping families maintain stable housing by providing funding for rent or utilities.  Clients may receive emergency help once in a 12 month period.  Rent must be 14 days past due or under threat of eviction. Utilities must have a disconnect notice or payment plan in place.  Appointments are scheduled on Monday mornings at 8:30 am until appointment slots are filled.

Boots 4 Work

Assistance program designed to help eliminate a possible barrier to new employment.  A voucher can be provided for clients to purchase work boots needed to gain employment.  Clients must contact Catholic Charities prior to the start of work.  Catholic Charities will work with clients and prospective employers to verify program eligibility.

Neighbor to Neighbor

A faith-based, intensive life skills education program.  Participants focus on goal setting, life skills development and financial literacy. Upon successful  completion of the course, participants earn a voucher toward their rent, utilities, or other appropriate expense or outstanding bill.

Medical Travel

Help for families who have a child (under the age of 18) who needs to travel outside of the Evansville area for a doctor appointment or medical procedure. With proper documentation, Catholic Charities can provide up to 4 - $40 gas gift cards within a calendar year.

Handy Helpers Home Repair

An employment training program that hires clients, referred to as technicians, with little to no work history.  During the program, technicians are paid for on the job training and personal development. In approximately six months, our Catholic Charities program teaches technicians work and technical skills necessary to help obtain a full-time paying job after successful completion of the program.

Counseling Services

Our licensed professional counselors can help clients experiencing a variety of mental health issues cope with the stresses of daily life by offering individual, family, and marital outpatient counseling on a sliding scale fee basis.  Catholic Charities serves adults, as well as children and adolescents.  Appointments are offered in-person, as well as through tele-therapy.

Immigration Services

Catholic Charities can provide high-quality, low-cost legal services to immigrants and refugees. The organization can assist with cases such as family petitions, naturalization/citizenship, permanent residency, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), and renewals/replacement.
