Optimal ACCESS – Day of Caring Volunteer Opportunities

Join us for a Day of Caring at Optimal ACCESS! Volunteers will help us improve and enhance our learning environment for the nonspeaking, minimally speaking, and unreliably speaking students, clients, and families served by Optimal ACCESS and Integrative Music Therapy. Projects may include facility improvements, organization, landscaping, cleaning, and beautification efforts that directly support the individuals and families who participate in our programs throughout the year. Your time and effort will help create a welcoming, accessible, and engaging environment where communication, connection, and learning can thrive.

Early Learning Center is in need of 15 - 20 volunteers to help our children 3 - 5 years of age participate in the 2026 Fall Olympics.  We will have an "Olympic Obstacle Course" set up for the children.  Volunteers are needed to oversee one specific obstacle or assist a child in maneuvering the course to a successful conclusion! 

The event will be held indoors in our Crescent Room facility.  The children so enjoy this opportunity and enjoy interacting with our volunteers!  Please join us!

Join the American Red Cross to help install FREE smoke alarms in homes and educate families on home fire safety. No previous experience needed. Training will be provided day of. Please wear good walking shoes and comfortable clothes.

Help create a welcoming, peaceful environment for women transitioning out of crisis. Volunteers will trim bushes, pull weeds, and beautify the grounds around the shelter. Your efforts will directly impact the dignity and comfort of those calling this space home.

The outside of Lucas Place needs the landscaping to be cleaned up. This involves cutting back shrubs and bushes, pulling weeds, picking up trash, etc.

We are in need of volunteers to help us with our resident van transportation fleet - exterior wash (weather permitting) and interior cleaning.  We will provide all supplies needed.  This project is consistent with years past and we SO appreciate the help of our volunteers!

During this United Way Day of Caring, volunteers from across the community will lend a hand to help clean, organize, and breathe new life into the museum we all love.

Volunteers will serve as helpmates to Rev. Taylor in whatever capacity necessary to complete tasks of greatest needs that exist for the day. Usually serving patrons is not a need.

See below for needs that are ongoing and are considered to be of greater importance as they relate to needing to be completed. Needs are not in order of priority. Please see below.

1. Wipe down refrigerators and freezers, inside and out.

2. Sweep floor in larger dining room.

3. Remove any unwanted items (clothes, cardboard boxes, collected trash that’s not considered waste. I do that).

4. Organize clothes for our (what I call low key & small because we are not equipped for a large ”full blown“) clothing bank, by sorting then hanging clothes. There might be some clothes to perhaps be taken out and delivered to another agency. 

5. Process shoes we have our fund raiser. Process means mate, band or tie mated shoes, count 25 pairs and put in clear 33 gallon plastic bag.

Harder task: Door on north west side of building needs to be replaced. The door could serve as main entrance to and exit from the lower level.  Once the dimensions of the door have been determined by measuring, it should be a fairly simple job.

Join us as we deep clean and detail the vans that carry children to safety, opportunity, and community every week.

Aurora transports clients experiencing homelessness throughout our region to appointments in order to help them navigate through the steps of getting their life back on track. The vehicles are very important to aiding our clients when the bus transportation is not an option.

With the opening of our new House of Hope, we can use help with keeping the grounds cleaned up and any repairs made. This can include helping to rake up leaves, cleaning up landscaping, clearing out trash and debris, lawn clean-up, powerwashing sidewalks, patios, and exterior areas, window cleaning, etc. 

Granted sends out an annual End of Year Letter to our donors and supports thanking them for their support and a final ask. We hand sign these letters, write a note, and hand address the envelopes. We send out roughly 5000 letters and can use all of the help we can get! 

With transporting families consistently, our vans get put through the ringer. We can use help cleaning the inside and outsides of our vans. We have a Toyota Ramp Van and a 16-Passenger Ford Transit. 

We have a Granted Family Pantry and multiple storage areas. We can use help getting things restocked and cleaned back up. 

We can use help dusting, sweeping and mopping, organizing and sanizitizing all areas of our interior. We have multiple rooms and lots of kids coming and going, so extra hands for this would be much appreciated! 

Volunteers are needed to spruce up the property at the Evansville Christian Health Clinic. Tasks needing done:

Dress Code: Please wear closed-toed shoes and dress modestly.

Interaction with guests: Always offer a smile and a hello! Use discernment as to how to interact with guests of the opposite gender. Please do not exchange contact information.

Hope Dot Com (Helping Overwhelmed People Everywhere) is looking for volunteers to help make a difference in our community! Opportunities include sorting and organizing clothing donations, stocking and organizing our food pantry and resource center, preparing hygiene kits, writing encouraging thank-you notes to donors and volunteers, and assisting with various outreach projects. Whether you can serve for a couple of hours or on a regular basis, your time and talents will help bring hope and practical support to individuals and families in need.

We are a small team of part-time workers with a lot of ground to cover! Jacob's Village needs your help getting our community back into shape and looking beautiful! This year for Day of Caring, we are looking for volunteers to help with landscaping, pulling weeds, trimming bushes, power washing, and possibly painting.  We will have all materials/tools needed to complete everything that is planned. If you have specific gloves you like to use, feel free to bring them! We will also provide water and snacks throughout the day and lunch at the end of the day! Make a difference in the lives of our students by volunteering at Joshua Academy Charter School during United Way's Day of Caring on Friday, September 11!

We're looking for enthusiastic community volunteers to help us prepare an inspiring learning environment for our students and staff. Volunteer projects include:

Whether you're an individual, business, church, or community organization, we'd love to have you join us for this meaningful day of service. No special skills are required—just a willingness to lend a helping hand! 

We are a working community theatre; we always need things to be cleaned and reorganized.

Help us prepare for one of the largest Christmas assistance programs in our community!

Volunteers will assist with getting approximately 200 Toy Town collection boxes ready for placement throughout the community. Tasks include folding and assembling collection boxes, attaching plastic sleeves, and inserting informational flyers. Once the collection boxes are prepared, volunteers will help organize and tidy the warehouse, as well as sort donated toys and coats for distribution during the holiday season.

This is a great opportunity for individuals, families, church groups, and community organizations looking to make a difference. No special skills are required just a willingness to help and a heart for serving others.

Help enhance the appearance of The Salvation Army Evansville by assisting with the beautification of our campus grounds!

Volunteers will work together to clean and refresh the front planter and the landscaping areas surrounding our electronic sign along Fulton Avenue. Tasks include pulling weeds, spraying weeds growing in sidewalk cracks, trimming bushes and shrubs, picking up litter, and helping spread fresh mulch throughout the landscaped areas.

We are seeking a volunteer group that can not only provide the labor for this project but also generously donate the mulch needed to complete the beautification efforts. Volunteers will need to bring all necessary tools and equipment, including rakes, shovels, hedge trimmers, weed-control supplies, gloves, wheelbarrows, and any other items needed to complete the work safely and efficiently.

This project will help create a welcoming, attractive environment for the thousands of individuals and families who visit our facility each year for meals, food assistance, holiday support, and other services. Thank you for helping The Salvation Army continue Doing the Most Good in our community!

Help Patchwork cut small volunteer trees and other unwanted plants out of our garden beds and green spaces. Have the satisfaction of clipping off overgrown plants and leaving things looking tidy! Volunteers should bring their own gardening gloves, clippers, loppers, or similar items.

Help us clean and organize everything that we're unable to get to during the rest of the year. Volunteers will help staff move and sort donations and will give the building a deep cleaning.

The Way Home is a faith-based transitional rehabilitation 15-bed facility for men.  The majority of the residents are referred to The Way through the Spencer County Judicial System due to substance use issues.  

It is time for a fresh coat of paint to be applied to the walls of the tv room, rec room, and mud room downstairs in the basement.

If possible, it would be nice for the ceilings to have a fresh coat of paint too.  However, due to time constraints we understand if this cannot be done.

The Way will furnish the paint and all supplies needed to complete this project.

Volunteers will have the following refreshments available to them:  water, coffee, milk, doughnuts, and a fresh fruit tray.  If special dietary needs are required, please inform our Onsite Manager, David Huff, so he can meet your needs.

United Caring Services receives large amounts of clothing donations. These items need to be folded and organized.

United Caring Services prepares and provides 3 meals per day, 365 days a year. This opportunity would allow volunteers to assist with lunch meal preparation and service.

(2) Classrooms on UMYH campus need to be deep cleaned- mopped/vacuumed, dusted, walls and surfaces cleaned, single bathroom cleaned 

Volunteers will assist the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana by assembling finisher medals for the 2026 Evansville Half Marathon, ensuring each participant receives a memorable keepsake on race day. Volunteers will also help organize and set up the YMCA's new event storage space, creating an efficient system for race and special event equipment that supports programs serving thousands of community members throughout the year.

We are looking for several volunteers to do some weeding and landscape sprucing around our office building on the Day of Caring.  Tools and gloves will be provided.

We are looking for a few volunteers to wash, clean and detail WNIN's van.  This van is used by WNIN staff to fulfill our mission as we serve the local community through local content production, and community events.  All supplies will be provided.

Cleaning projects are yet to be determined but may include without limitation, clean up of outdoor debris, leaves, trash; weeding; deep clean of diner chairs and tables; deep clean of other spaces within the facility.  

Join us on United Day of Caring, in Tepe Park, as we work together on housing restoration and neighborhood beautification. 

No skills are needed, tools and protective wear are provided. Please wear closed toe shoes. 

Volunteers needed to help in the classrooms. We have children ages 6 weeks to 5-year-olds. Volunteer will assist with planned activities in the classroom. (Reading to the children, playing table games, assist with art projects and other activities during the daily routines.
