There will be many opportunities for this event:

Landscaping:  trimming bushes & trees, general landscaping care, cleaning back parking lot, weeding garden/beds, removing landscape rock.

Outdoor cleaning:  powerwashing pavilion / doors, frames

Cleaning:  washing windows, cleaning walls/doorways, wiping down walls, etc.

Technology:  cleaning up students computers, adding allowable websites, removing websites, etc.

Painting (possible):  traffic lines, crosswalks, walls in Club, touch-ups

Please bring any additional equipment for general needs of the above mentioned activities:  brooms, hedge trimmers, rakes, paper towels, window cleaner, step ladders, painting supplies, tools, etc.  Depending on the talent & knowledge some items maybe added to the list.

EVSC is teaming up again this year with Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana to provide their Realityapolis program, a powerful hands-on, interactive game designed to develop financial literacy.

Realityapolis is set up like a real town, with stations that represent a bank, auto dealer, grocery, cable company, realtor, and most of the elements that make up everyday life.

As a volunteer you will be representing a “real life” location. You will act as the salesperson and/or customer service representative for a “real life” store. It will be your job to sell your product to each student that visits your booth. The students will then record their purchase on their own checking account bank ledger. Once a student has completed the business at your booth, you will then initial their Visiting the Realityapolis paperwork and move on to the next “customer.”

Optimal ACCESS – Day of Caring Volunteer Opportunities

Join us for a Day of Caring at Optimal ACCESS! Volunteers will help us improve and enhance our learning environment for the nonspeaking, minimally speaking, and unreliably speaking students, clients, and families served by Optimal ACCESS and Integrative Music Therapy. Projects may include facility improvements, organization, landscaping, cleaning, and beautification efforts that directly support the individuals and families who participate in our programs throughout the year. Your time and effort will help create a welcoming, accessible, and engaging environment where communication, connection, and learning can thrive. Lunch will be provided.

Hello Day of Caring Volunteers!

We are a small team of part-time workers with a lot of ground to cover! Jacob's Village needs your help getting our community back into shape and looking beautiful! This year for Day of Caring, we are looking for volunteers to help with landscaping, pulling weeds, trimming bushes, power washing, and possibly painting.  We will have all materials/tools needed to complete everything that is planned. If you have specific gloves you like to use, feel free to bring them! We will also provide water and snacks throughout the day and lunch at the end of the day! We look forward to seeing everyone in September and are so grateful for your help! Thank you!

Block-by-Block is a community outreach and revitalization program launched by Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry to beautify streets, improve public safety and to bring city services directly to residents in areas that have historically been overlooked. The mission is to restore a sense of local pride and ensure every neighborhood feels safe and welcoming.

Volunteers will handle physical beautification labor. This includes picking up trash, clearing weeds, trimming trees, and in some situations, hauling heavy debris. Volunteer should wear comfortable clothing, sturdy shoes and be prepared to get a little dirty. Trash bags and gloves will be provided.

Arrival and check-in time is at 8:30am at 409 E. Riverside Drive. Volunteers will sign a waiver and receive trash bags, gloves and a map showing the cleanup boundary. At 9:00am, Mayor Terry will deliver brief remarks in front of a house at 324 Cass Avenue before the structure is torn down. Volunteers will then spread out across Culver and Glenwood neighborhoods beautifying the area until 11:00am.

Volunteer Opportunity: Furniture Moving Team Needed

We're looking for strong volunteers to help remove old furniture from our House to make room for new. Volunteers will work together to safely carry furniture and assist with moving them to the designated disposal or storage area.

What to Expect: Heavy lifting and carrying up and down stairs

Teamwork to safely move furniture

Approximately 1–2 hours of physical activity

Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes required

Your help will make a big difference in preparing our House for new, comfortable mattresses for the families we serve. Thank you for lending a hand! 

Help us keep Ronald McDonald House of Ohio Valley looking beautiful and welcoming for the families we serve! We're looking for volunteers to assist with landscaping and outdoor clean-up projects around the House.

What to Expect: Pulling weeds and tidying flower beds

Light pruning and general outdoor maintenance

Throughout building replace stained ceiling tiles.

Aurora transports clients experiencing homelessness throughout our region to appointments in order to help them navigate through the steps of getting their life back on track. The vehicles are very important to aiding our clients when the bus transportation is not an option.

The Way Home is a faith-based transitional rehabilitation 15-bed facility for men.  The majority of the residents are referred to The Way through the Spencer County Judicial System due to substance use issues.  

It is time for a fresh coat of paint to be applied to the walls of the tv room, rec room, and mud room downstairs in the basement.

If possible, it would be nice for the ceilings to have a fresh coat of paint too.  However, due to time constraints we understand if this cannot be done.

The Way will furnish the paint and all supplies needed to complete this project.

Volunteers will have the following refreshments available to them:  water, coffee, milk, doughnuts, and a fresh fruit tray.  If special dietary needs are required, please inform our Onsite Manager, David Huff, so he can meet your needs.

Help enhance the appearance of The Salvation Army Evansville by assisting with the beautification of our campus grounds!

Volunteers will work together to clean and refresh the front planter and the landscaping areas surrounding our electronic sign along Fulton Avenue. Tasks include pulling weeds, spraying weeds growing in sidewalk cracks, trimming bushes and shrubs, picking up litter, and helping spread fresh mulch throughout the landscaped areas.

We are seeking a volunteer group that can not only provide the labor for this project but also generously donate the mulch needed to complete the beautification efforts. Volunteers will need to bring all necessary tools and equipment, including rakes, shovels, hedge trimmers, weed-control supplies, gloves, wheelbarrows, and any other items needed to complete the work safely and efficiently.

Join us on United Day of Caring, in Tepe Park, as we work together on housing restoration and neighborhood beautification. 

No skills are needed, tools and protective wear are provided. Please wear closed toe shoes. 

With the opening of our new House of Hope, we can use help with keeping the grounds cleaned up and any repairs made. This can include helping to rake up leaves, cleaning up landscaping, clearing out trash and debris, lawn clean-up, powerwashing sidewalks, patios, and exterior areas, window cleaning, etc. 

We are a working community theatre; we always need things to be cleaned and reorganized.

Serve Dinner to ERM guests and Residents inside the Men's Residence Center from 5 pm to 6 pm!  500 E. Walnut St. Enter through the front doors of the MRC that are westward facing, under the red cross Jesus Saves sign. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the meal service and check in upon arrival.  Other Information: When you arrive in the kitchen, check with the staff for instructions.

Dress Code: Please wear closed-toed shoes and dress modestly. Interaction with guests: Always offer a smile and a hello! Use discernment as to how to interact with guests of the opposite gender. Please do not exchange contact information. 

Gifts: Please do not give money or gifts unless approved by the Volunteer Coordinator or a MRC staff person. Photography and videography: You are more than welcome to take photos of our building and your volunteer group, but photographs/videos including guests are not permitted.

Cell phones: Please refrain from using your cell phone or wearing earbuds or headphones while volunteering.

Personal belongings: Please leave belongings in a locked vehicle and out of sight. Evansville Rescue Mission is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Be Flexible: We ask that as you come to your scheduled volunteer time with a patient heart and extend flexibility if your opportunity does not go as anticipated!

We are looking for several volunteers to do some weeding and landscape sprucing around our office building on the Day of Caring.  Tools and gloves will be provided.

We are looking for a few volunteers to wash, clean and detail WNIN's van.  This van is used by WNIN staff to fulfill our mission as we serve the local community through local content production, and community events.  All supplies will be provided.

Volunteers will serve as helpmates to Rev. Taylor in whatever capacity necessary to complete tasks of greatest needs that exist for the day. Usually serving patrons is not a need.

See below for needs that are ongoing and are considered to be of greater importance as they relate to needing to be completed. Needs are not in order of priority. Please see below.

1. Wipe down refrigerators and freezers, inside and out.

2. Sweep floor in larger dining room.

3. Remove any unwanted items (clothes, cardboard boxes, collected trash that’s not considered waste. I do that).

4. Organize clothes for our (what I call low key & small because we are not equipped for a large ”full blown“) clothing bank, by sorting then hanging clothes. There might be some clothes to perhaps be taken out and delivered to another agency. 

5. Process shoes we have our fund raiser. Process means mate, band or tie mated shoes, count 25 pairs and put in clear 33 gallon plastic bag.

Harder task: Door on north west side of building needs to be replaced. The door could serve as main entrance to and exit from the lower level.  Once the dimensions of the door have been determined by measuring, it should be a fairly simple job.

A new volleyball court is coming to Lou Dennis Community Park. We need help spreading a great deal of sand to finish out the sand volleyball court. Bring your gloves, shovels, and rakes to move sand and provide teens with a wonderful volleyball court that will last generations!

Cleaning projects are yet to be determined but may include without limitation, clean up of outdoor debris, leaves, trash; weeding; deep clean of diner chairs and tables; deep clean of other spaces within the facility.  

The outside of Lucas Place needs the landscaping to be cleaned up. This involves cutting back shrubs and bushes, pulling weeds, picking up trash, etc.

Join the American Red Cross to help install FREE smoke alarms in homes and educate families on home fire safety. No previous experience needed. Training will be provided day of. Please wear good walking shoes and comfortable clothes.
