Volunteer: The Salvation Army Landscaping & BeautificationHelp enhance the appearance of The Salvation Army Evansville by assisting with the beautification of our campus grounds! Volunteers will work together to clean and refresh the front planter and the landscaping areas surrounding our electronic sign along Fulton Avenue. Tasks include pulling weeds, spraying weeds growing in sidewalk cracks, trimming bushes and shrubs, picking up litter, and helping spread fresh mulch throughout the landscaped areas. We are seeking a volunteer group that can not only provide the labor for this project but also generously donate the mulch needed to complete the beautification efforts. Volunteers will need to bring all necessary tools and equipment, including rakes, shovels, hedge trimmers, weed-control supplies, gloves, wheelbarrows, and any other items needed to complete the work safely and efficiently. Volunteer Tasks: Pull weeds from flower beds and landscaped areas Spray weeds in sidewalks and cracks Trim bushes and shrubs Pick up trash and debris Donate and install fresh mulch General cleanup and beautificationVolunteer Group Responsibilities: Provide and transport all necessary tools and equipment Donate the mulch required for the project Complete the installation of mulch and landscaping improvementsThis project will help create a welcoming, attractive environment for the thousands of individuals and families who visit our facility each year for meals, food assistance, holiday support, and other services. Volunteer: (Ongoing) Lunch Program ServerThe Salvation Army serves a lunch Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, Friday from 11:00-1:00 PM. We are need help from 10:45-1:15 to help serve the food into to either regular trays or to go trays for handing out. This work is not very demanding and many elderly or retired workers looking to keep busy and be involved in what we do, enjoy serving in this program. It does require closed toed shoes, could get warm, and you do have to stand for about 2 hours. We are always in need of servers and help so please consider joining our email list to stay up to date!
